Lohan Settles Car Crash Case

Filed under: Legal News — gadgetgadget @ 3:13 am

According to Los Angeles personal injury attorneys, in 2005 Lindsay Lohan was involved in an accident in her Mercedes-Benz with Raymundo Ortega, a busboy who was driving a van at the time the accident occurred.

The California Highway Patrol investigation showed that Ortega had made an illegal U-turn causing the accident. His attorney brought the case stating that Lohan at the time was in flight from the paparazzi that were following her as well as under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident.

In the suit Ortega and his attorney Robert G. Klein were asking the court for an amount of $200,000 in damages.

It has been reported that the case was settled Wednesday; there was however no report of the amount of damages that have been paid to Ortega for this 2005 accident that Lindsay Lohan was involved. There also has not been any comment from her attorney David J. Ozeran or her publicist Leslie Slone-Zelinik according to reports. Los Angeles car accident attorneys have one less case to deal with now.

GPS Systems - The Good and the Bad

Filed under: technology news — gadgetgadget @ 2:43 am

A GPS (Global Positioning System) is a gadget that is becoming more popular every day. Citizens in cities Los Angeles and Orange County are enjoying the benefits and ease of driving navigation that they have to offer. From a Los Angeles personal injury attorneys perspective, GPS gadgets can be both good and bad. The GPS System itself allows for the receiver that comes with the system the ability of determining not only its location, but its speed and direction, as well as the time.
Many people may not be aware of this, but the GPS Systems have many other useful operations they are capable of performing as well. They are a very useful source in map making, and they can also be used for land surveying. This system is also a useful tool in the scientific study of earthquakes. Unfortunately as with most anything else, there are also some negative factors to consider when you are purchasing a GPS System for yourself, a friend, or one of your family members.
If the placement of the system itself is not positioned correctly, it can cause inaccuracy and a delay in the information you receive from the receiver. This can be extremely frustrating in an emergency situation, or if you are depending on the system to get you at a specific place on time for something very important.

While the GPS system is rather new some drivers have problems when it comes to working them or getting information from them and Los Angeles injury lawyers will tell you that this can detract from their attention to the road leaving them vulnerable to the actions of other drivers or the hazards of the road its self.

Just as with other gadgets this can be a dangerous vehicle on the road when the driver does not have their full attention on the road and using their full driving skills. It can put them in the path of danger or other vehicles in the path of their vehicle. When this happens in the Los Angeles, Torrance, Marina del Rey or other Orange County areas there are personal injury attorneys and Los Angeles automobile accident lawyers who are are experienced in handling this type of accident as they are becoming more common. There are new gadgets like the GPS system that are added as a standard feature every year in new vehicle models to take drivers attention away from the road. As a result there will be more accidents related to gadgets and drivers who are using them while on the road. This will leave injured victims who will need the skill of an attorney that has experience and understands the hidden dangers in these new gadgets.

Airbags A Good Device Or Bad From a Los Angeles Injury Attorney Perspective

Filed under: General news — gadgetgadget @ 2:42 am

These of course are airbags; in many models there are not only front airbags but also side airbags, which cushion the body in an accident, however while they protect there have also been some misfortune with these devices. This leaves one to question are airbags a good device or bad.

Not long after they were placed in the first models there were reports of airbags that opened when there was not an accident, there were people injured and even deaths, these were mostly in younger children, who should have been seat belted in the back of the vehicle rather than in a seat where an adult would be seated. Airbags are a good device or bad from a Los Angeles injury attorneys perspective have also posed a danger to drivers who are shorter in height as they are seated closer to the steering wheel in order to driver properly, this means should the airbag device deploy it has the potential to strike the driver rather hard in the chest and even face. Others who have the potential to be injured are babies who are seated in a car seat that sits facing backward, when strapped in the front seat, should the passenger airbag deploy, this device can strike the infant seat rather hard.

Older vehicles were not equipped with airbags and when in an accident today people that have a vehicle without airbags suffer more injuries such as broken ribs from hitting the steering wheel, injuries and even death from hitting the windshield, these injuries ranged from cuts and gashes, to more severe injuries. However, these injuries are not reserved for the vehicle without airbags, there is evidence that some airbag designs and other problems left these drivers with out a device that opened in an accident.

Many accidents today in the Long Beach, Huntington Beach and Corona areas are newer vehicles that are equipped with airbags, and while the driver and passenger have the protection of airbags there are still injuries that involved and a personal injury attorney is needed, one that has experience and expertise in auto accidents and the knowledge of what the injured client needs will be. These attorneys will help to answer whether airbag a good device or not in an accident case. There has been some statistics that show injuries related to airbag devices are, broken necks, spinal injuries, brain hemorrhaging, severed brain stems, fractures of facial bones and blinding to name a few. When hurt in a Los Angeles car accident, you need to retain Los Angeles accident attorneys or Los Angeles car accident lawyers to help in recovery of money for those damages caused or exacerbated by the gadget in your vehicle.  One thing is certain, Los Angeles motorcycle accident attorneys wont be suing for defective airbags on motorbikes.

The Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas

Filed under: technology news — gadgetgadget @ 2:41 am

Have you noticed there has been a lot of gadget and technology related news lately concerning iPods,iPhones and MP3 players in general? I have certainly noticed this trend, it is as if the Apple Corporation and other such firms are on some sort of offensive. here is more on this particular topic:

Case Logic made an appearance at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas and introduced their new line of cases and protective covers for iPods and other personal players.

In the new line of iPod cases from Case Logic, there are cases made of neoprene and slip cases that are made of silicone, along with several others that while protective for the iPod also have piazzas. Ones like the new line of universal pockets, these protective covers are styled to appear like miniature sleeping bags that will protect from scratches and marring. Case Logic has also produced a line for the iPod owner who needs a hard styled case, there are two in this line that were brought out at the electronics show. The hard cases are a tin with a neoprene inside for protecting the iPod and come with either a slider or what is termed a folio.

The slider is the, a tin protective cover with a slide feature that the tin slides off the face of the iPod. The second is named a folio, this is one in which the tin rather than slides folds open, like a hinged tin box and for extra protection has a silicone interior.  In

Addition, there is a brand new player in the MP3 World according to the Reuters News network and also Yahoo News…..The eMotion EM-SOL1GIG is relatively big as far as most media players go: at 5 inches across, an inch thick, and some ten ounces, you will not be putting this guy in your pants pocket anytime soon. But open it up and you will see  a pair of solar panels that will charge the player’s lithium-ion battery in about 3 or 4 hours.

It is a pretty cool gadget as it is fully capable of handling MP3, WMA, and WAV audio files, plus AVI and MPEG-4 video. How is that for an environmentally friendly toy?

In other iPod news, according to a story in the highly respected Chicago Tribune, it was reported that the iPod Touch was upgraded with 2 powerful trends which are currently sweeping the gadget landscape: the use of Wi-Fi and the ever-increasing assortment of third-party applications for hand-held devices. Many of the technological features normally associated with the iPhone are being integrated into the iPod. You may also add features such as Google mobile and direct links to several news sites. Pretty cool stuff to be sure. Apple is really evolving their line.

Filed under: gadget news — gadgetgadget @ 2:29 am

One of the items that is sure to make its appearance at the Mac show that begins today is a product that Griffin has manufactured, this is called the PowerDock, and for iPod owners that have more than one iPod in the house and iPhones this will make life easy. This new Griffin product is a docking station to charge four iPods or iPods and iPhones at one time. There will also be a two slot docking station that will be released also at a later time this Spring or early Summer. Both of these new products are likely to make their appearance at the Mac Show.

Griffin has said that the plan to have the four units docking station on the market for consumers in April and will cost $70. Griffins other docking station that is able to charge two iPods in June and will cost $50 on the market for consumers.

At this time the only function of this product is to charge four units at one time, which is exciting to families who would like a central docking station. However, this is a product that in time is assumed will have features added to it making it more desirable.

Today the Mac show begins and the speculation on many of the national news shows have their experts appearing and giving their opinions what is in store for this show, what new items will be shown and all seem to agree that the talk that has been going on may come to light. One of the things they all seem to agree on is that there is a great possibility that it will be announced that Apple and iTunes will be making movies available for downloading to ipods.

How this will work has also be discussed, movies will be available on iTunes but also there will be a feature added to DVD’s on the menu that will give information including a code to enable iPod owners to go to iTunes to download the movie to their iPod. In recent months this has been rumored around the Internet, along with it being said that Apple was in talks with some of the Hollywood movie companies to agree upon a deal for these movie downloads.

Now according to all the tech and gadget experts on the television news shows this is one of the things that will be announced at the Mac Show that begins today, January 15, 2008.

Apple expanding iPod Line

Filed under: technology news — gadgetgadget @ 2:28 am

It seems that Apple may be considering taking the Apple iPod line to the next level for iPod owners.

There have been rumbling on the Internet about Apple iPod owners being able to have digital downloads of movies available to them.

This appears to be in discussion between Apple and movie studios, to make digital copies of movies that will be compatible with the Apple iPods to download. A deal like this could make using an iPod a whole new experience for the iPod owner.

This of course will just as music, will be a feature of iTunes and will also be found at iTunes for downloads or as a feature on DVD’s when placed in a computer there will be a place on theDVD menu that will tell the viewer what version of iTunes needs to be loaded in order to watch the iPod version of the movie and a serial number that will need to be used to access the digital download at iTunes.

Having a feature like this will change the use of iPods for some owners who will be able to view the latest movies that are available to download, along with listening to music of all genres.  Meanwhile, in

related news, the overall numbers are in from this past November in the radio industry and they are down from November of 2006 by six percent.

Among the reasons listed that are taking listeners away from radio is the iPod that can now be found in cars that have docking stations built in, along with other reasons such as availability to radio on the Internet and satellite radio.

Analysts expect that the percentage rate will decline approximately five percent more over this year, as there is an increase in personal digital music players. This is placing the position of radio operators and commentators in a fragile position.

With the release of the next generation in Apple iPods and all the new components coming out on the market within the next few months it is likely that the analysts correct. Components such as speaker systems that are compact with docking stations that charge the iPod while being docked. Along with more auto manufactures that will offer built in docking stations to listen and charge iPods while driving as an added selling feature for consumer comfort. This with new features that have been added to the new generation of Apple iPods, which now hold more songs than ever before may help to bring the radio industry down.

Technology Companies’ Sales Continue to Grow, driven by Gadgets

Filed under: technology news — Tags: — gadgetgadget @ 2:26 am

You are not the only one who loves all those cool gadgets you see so much of,
especially during this time of year. Technology companies also really love them.
After all, they are like jet fuel for sales in this sector of the economy.
And investors adore them as well. This is because even as
the real estate crises, dismal global trade deficit reports and ever-increasing fuel prices have put much of Wall Street in a cranky mood,
many investors are still finding plenty of profits in technology stocks, which is an area that the United States leads the world in. The
Apple Corporation, Nokia and and Research In Motion are just a few of the companies which are profiting handsomely from the gadget boom.
In addition to these industry giants, the  standard bearer IBM, mega corporation Oracle plus virtualization software pioneer VMware are reaping rich dividends
thanks to the gadget driven consumer spending. As an example, Thomson financial has stated that Technology companies which grace the S&P 500 are predicted to outperform
all the other sectors in the 4th quarter of the year. Pretty impressive and also a godsend for an otherwise embattled economy. of course, each company is affected by
slightly different factors at work here. The Apple Corporation, for example, is benefiting greatly from 2 sweeping items in particular: strong notebook sales plus a thriving wireless market,
courtesy of the iPhone.
In fact sales are anticipated to grow by just under a third in Apple’s current year to over thirty-one billion! Likewise,
Hewlett-Packard has capitalized on the strong laptop computer demand. In fact their 4th quarter notebook sales have leaped by nearly fifty percent!
And Personal Computer sales in China, which is currently theor third largest market overall, doubled in the fourth quarter.

Some Christmas Gadgets Causing Frustration

Filed under: gadget news — gadgetgadget @ 2:25 am

Ho Ho Ho, Merry Christmas! The gadgets that you have purchased this holiday season might be even more frustrating than seeing television re-runs. That is since individuals often do not read the manual for more technologically complicated gadgets, thinking that they may be able to set them up with no outside assistance. Apparently, many of us will be lowered to clicking randon buttons on our new toys this holiday season, and this could end up causing them to break. A blog article states, “…..people resort to clicking random buttons rather than turn to an expert. This can often do more damage than good.” And in a research study from YouGov, fully one fourth of us are already resigned to spending between thirty minutes and 5 hours simply setting our technology up on December 25.
Oh, what a dilemma! Tim Fairs of The TechGuys offered some help for those struggling to get their gadgets in working. order:”Most electrical products these days come with a simple quick-start guide that describes the half a dozen or so simple steps needed to get the device up and running quickly.

“We strongly advise customers not to discard this sheet with the wrapping paper. The next most important advice is to pay very careful attention to the order in which things need to be done,” he went on to state.
Sounds like good information to me.
